Day 44 – Durham Fountain
After purchasing tickets to an upcoming show at DPAC (Durham Performing Arts Center), I wandered around a bit. I found this fountain just stepping out of the morning shadows of the buildings nearby. Even though this was a very cool February morning, the blue sky and sunshine gave a nice little reminder that Spring is not that far away.

Day 43 – PUMC Youth Valentine’s Dinner
The youth fellowship group at Parkwood United Methodist Church hosted a Valentine’s Dinner. This event has become an annual event that members and guests look forward to each year. The youth provide great service and never fail to create a great evening of fun and fellowship.
I had the honor of helping out by providing souvenir photos for the evening.

Day 42 – A Tired but Happy Dog
Another picture of Banks the dog. I just loved this shot of him “smiling” with his tongue hanging out. I am not quite sure whether this was after his run outside or after a successful bit of tug-of-war with his favorite toy. I guess it does not really matter.

Day 41 – Dog Posing for a Treat
This is Banks, loyal companion to close friends of mine. This smart dog has discovered that while his family is distracted, he can usually talk me into giving him a treat. Here, he is trying to be patient while giving me that stare.

Day 39 – Mustang at the Water
Reaching back a few days for this shot . . .
On my most recent visit to the “duck” pond. I just could not resist taking at least one shot of my Mustang. I am always a sucker for a good reflection on water.

Day 38 – Graffiti on a Train
This was one of those moments where I wasn’t completely prepared to take a picture. I was stopped at a railroad crossing, one of the few in our area without any crossing gates. By the time I reached into the backseat, grabbed my camera out of my bag and got ready to shoot, the train had nearly passed by. I caught this shot of the last train car from the driver’s seat of my car, note the top of my steering wheel in the frame.
At least the train didn’t completely get away. Maybe I will catch a better shot of a train in the future.
The graffiti on the train car is interesting but I can’t really tell what it says. If you recognize the artwork or symbols, feel free to share information in a comment.

Day 37 – Hey, Can I Borrow Some of this Hair?
Here’s another shot from Xander’s birthday party. Whenever Xander gets together with his cousin Kaela, he seems fascinated with her hair. I have caught similar images at other family events. He just reaches up to touch her hair, never pulling. It makes you wonder what he is thinking.

Day 36 – One Year Old Rebel
Spent the afternoon with the family celebrating my great-nephew’s first birthday. Xander kept us all entertained with his toys. Here as he stands in his wagon and rocks like it is a scooter, he shows us that at just one year old, he’s a bit of a rebel. Maybe next year’s gift should be a helmet or knee/elbow pads for this little daredevil.
Happy Birthday Xander!

Day 35 – Ducks…Ready for Take-Off
Have you ever had that moment where you know something dramatic is about to happen and you are snapping photos then… Uh oh, disk full!
That is exactly what happened here. I was watching these two ducks <snap>. The male calls the female to the waters edge. <snap>, <snap>. Then I can tell they are just about to take flight and ready.. <snap> Wait no, my memory card is full….
Well there they go!
Notes to self . .
- Be more prepared!
- Be aware of how many shots are left on the memory card!

Day 34 – Duck in the Water
I found a couple of ducks hanging out at the neighborhood pond. They were a bit nervous about my presence at first and fled to the far side of the pond. Eventually I convinced the ducks that I was harmless and I caught this shot of a late afternoon swim. I think she was still keeping an eye on me.

Day 31 – Looking
Always ready to assist me in my work, my sweet dog ventured out with me to look for photo subjects. I had been watching the squirrels in the trees and listening to the birds overhead. I glanced down to find Tobi was looking up too. Such a good helper!!
